Eco-Friendly Soaps & Lotions, Plus Organic Energy Drinks & Honey
The July EcoCentric Mom Box offers lots of interesting goodies you're either going to want to put in your body or on it.
IN Your Body
I hate to admit it, but the first thing I do when I get an EcoCentric Mom Box is to see what foods it contains. Maybe that's because it usually arrives around lunch time! In any event, I've really enjoyed this month's taste treats. They included:
Honibe Honey Lozenges and Honibe Honey Delights Candy - The lozenges are made from 100% pure dried honey - and they sure taste like it. They're also infused with menthol and eucalyptus; I can imagine using them in the fall and winter if I get a sore throat or stuffy nose. The Honibe Honey Delights are also made with 100% pure dried honey - and that's eat. They taste delicious and are just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Organic Flavrz Drink Mixes - I'm usually not a fan of so-called energy drinks or power "ades" - I just don't like all the synthetic chemicals many of them contain, let alone the plastic bottles they come in. I was pleasantly surprised by the Organic Flavrz mixes - they're both tasty and pretty "eco" - you mix them in water or even iced tea, so you're not incurring the resource costs involved in shipping liquids all over the country. I added mine to plain tap water, filtered tap water I'd carbonated myself, and even iced tea. All options tasted good. More importantly, I drank a big glass of water and the drink mix right after exercising, when I was feeling a little light-headed. Within ten minutes, I felt revitalized.
Cascadian Farm Oats & Honey Crunchy Granola Bars - Most conventional granola bars are just too sweet for me. These bars from Cascadian Farm have all the taste and texture but don't taste quite so sugary.
LARABAR ALT Protein Bar - The company call this an alternative protein bar because it uses peas, rather than soy or whey, to pack its protein punch. It's also vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and non-GMO.
Eat Green Tea - Rather than steep your tea, now you can eat it. The idea is to sprinkle these organic green tea leaves into shakes, smoothies, cereals, or salads to boost your intake of antioxidants. The leaves are very dry and crispy; I actually find them nice to snack on.
Put ON Your Body
Wellinhand POWER PRISM Deodorant - This spray deodorant has just a faint scent of citrus and spice. I don't sweat heavily, so I can't say how well it would work for people who do. But for me, it's just fine. Another plus: no aluminum chlorhydrate; only natural mineral salts.
Crunchy Mamas Lip Balm - Don't let the "crunchy" in this name fool you. This lip balm goes on soft and smooth, even though it contains no preservatives, GMOs and dyes.
Lotus Moon Hibiscus Flower Hydrating Lotion - I particularly like this lotion, made from aloe vera, coconut oil and hibiscus flower extract. The scent is not overpowering and it lubricates without leaving the skin feeling oily.
Greene Street Soap - This handcrafted soap is made from food grade and organic oils, cocoa and shea butters, and no animal fats. My sample smelled deliciously of almonds. Yum!
Willow Tree Minerals Organic Cranberry & Cucumber Eye Gel - If your eyes get puffy, this gel might be for you. It's made from cranberry, cucumber, reseratrol, chamomile, vanilla and aloe, moisturizes as well as supplies anti-oxidants.
And just to increase your comfort levels a little...
Vance Family Soy Travel Candle - Made from pure essential oils and organic plant-derived flavors, these candles are compact enough to pack for a trip or on a sunset picnic.
Peepods Panty Liner - Use these washable pads in place of throw-aways for periods, postpartum, and mild incontinence.
